A Change in What We Publish

This site has run two streams of writing for some time. One is Rails to Freedom, the book. The other is this Dispatch — daily commentary on UK and EU economic policy, written through the lens of Austrian economics.

From today, the daily commentary stream is changing.

The Dispatch will be paused, for now. In its place, a new stream is starting: The Burnham Report.

What the Burnham Report is

It is a daily counter-commentary on what the Prime Minister says.

Every weekday — and only when the Prime Minister has said something new — a short piece will go up at /burnham-report/. Each one takes a single thing the PM has said in the last 48 hours and asks: is that claim true, and is the policy behind it the policy he just described?

The posts will be short, plain-English, and grounded in verbatim quotes from the source. Where a claim is checked against a second outlet, that outlet is named. Where a claim cannot be checked, the post says so.

Why the change

The Dispatch covered institutions — central banks, regulators, ministries. The Burnham Report covers a person. Both jobs matter, but they don't fit in the same stream without one crowding the other out. It is better to do each one properly, on its own schedule, than both of them half-finished in a single daily slot.

The Austrian Dispatch articles already published on this site are staying where they are. They will continue to be available in the archive. The book remains the book.

How to follow it

The new stream lives at railstofreedom.com/burnham-report/. Posts land there when there is something new to write about. On quiet days, nothing lands. Cadence is reactive, not scheduled.

If you came to this site for the Austrian economic analysis, the book is the right place. If you came for daily commentary on what the Prime Minister says, the new stream is for you. Both will be kept honest by the same standard: verbatim quotes, named sources, plain language.
